What Our Guests Say
Festival Calendar
Plan around the big dates — and book early for the busy ones.
Shravani Mela
The largest event of the year at Baba Baidyanath Dham. Through the month of Shravan, lakhs of kanwariyas walk roughly 105 km from Sultanganj carrying Ganga water to offer at the temple. The whole town reorganises around the pilgrimage, with dedicated routes, camps and extended darshan hours.
Mahashivratri
One of the most important nights in the Shaiva calendar, marked with night-long worship, special abhishek and large crowds at the Baidyanath temple. A wedding procession of Shiva is traditionally taken out in Deoghar.
Basant Panchami
Marks the beginning of spring and, at Baidyanath Dham, the traditional start of preparations leading towards Shivratri. Quieter than the major melas but a good time to visit for those wanting darshan without peak crowds.
Nag Panchami
Falls within the Shravan period and adds to the crowds already present for Shravani Mela. Serpent worship is observed at temples across the region.
Ajgaibinath Mela
Sultanganj is where the kanwar journey begins. Pilgrims collect Ganga water at the Ajgaibinath temple ghat before setting out on foot for Deoghar, and the town fills through Shravan.
