One of India's largest museums, built from a single family's collection.
The Salar Jung Museum holds the collection assembled largely by Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, and is one of the three National Museums of India.
Its galleries span Indian, Middle Eastern, Far Eastern and European art, including sculpture, textiles, manuscripts, weapons and furniture. The best-known exhibits are the Veiled Rebecca sculpture and an elaborate nineteenth-century musical clock that draws a crowd on the hour.
Located on the south bank of the Musi river near Afzal Gunj. Easily reached by cab or auto from anywhere central.
