History & Significance of Salar Jung Museum

Hyderabad District describes the museum as built around the vast collection of Salar Jung III, former Prime Minister of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. The private collection was opened as a museum in 1951 and later moved to its present Afzalgunj location.

Today it preserves one of India's most varied collections of art and antiques assembled by an individual family.
