Ram ki Paidi

Ram ki Paidi (“Ram's steps”) is a long series of ghats on the bank of the Saryu river. Pilgrims come to take a holy dip, which is believed to wash away sins, and the steps are a calm place to sit and watch the river.

The present ghats were built in the mid-1980s and have been renovated and lit in recent years. In the evening, the aarti fills the riverfront with bells and lamps.

Ram ki Paidi is the centre of Deepotsav, the state's Diwali celebration, when lakhs of clay lamps are lit along the Saryu and Guinness World Records have been set for the largest display of oil lamps. Book stays several months ahead if you plan to visit then.

Ram ki Paidi is about 2 km from the Ram Mandir and about 2.5 km from Ayodhya Dham Junction. E-rickshaws and autos run here from the station and from Hanuman Garhi.
