About Nageshwarnath Temple
Nageshwarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Nageshwarnath, the lord of serpents, and is counted among the oldest temples in Ayodhya.
According to legend, Kush, the son of Lord Ram, lost his armlet while bathing in the Saryu. It was found by a Naag-Kanya (serpent maiden) who was a devotee of Shiva, and Kush built this temple for her. The present temple was built in 1750 by Naval Rai, a minister of Nawab Safdar Jung.
Mahashivratri is the biggest day of the year here, when a Shiv Barat procession is taken out and thousands of devotees visit. Pradosh (Trayodashi) days are also busy.

How to Reach Nageshwarnath Temple
The temple stands at Ram ki Paidi near Theri Bazar, so it is easy to visit together with the ghats and the evening aarti.
