Cabo de Rama Fort

Cabo de Rama occupies a rocky headland in South Goa and takes its name from a local legend that Lord Rama and Sita sheltered here during their exile, though the standing fort itself dates to a pre-Portuguese local dynasty before being expanded by the Portuguese in the 18th century as a coastal defence post. It later served as a prison. Today it is largely ruined, but the clifftop setting — with sheer drops to the Arabian Sea on three sides — makes it one of the most dramatic viewpoints in Goa and a much quieter alternative to the more visited North Goa forts.
