Bangalore (Bengaluru) is Karnataka's capital and India's technology hub, known for its pleasant year-round climate, tree-lined avenues, and a food and cafe culture that ranges from Darshini breakfast counters to some of the country's best-known restaurants. Travellers come for very different reasons here - IT work trips to Whitefield, Electronic City and Outer Ring Road, college admissions, medical visits to the city's large hospitals, or simply a weekend break around Cubbon Park and Lalbagh. Because the city is spread out and traffic is heavy, where you stay matters more in Bangalore than in most Indian cities: a guest house near your actual destination will usually save you far more time than a cheaper one across town.
