About Shri Mahakal Lok

Shri Mahakal Lok is the grand approach to Mahakaleshwar Temple, opened in October 2022. A walkway of about 900 metres, it is lined with 108 ornamented pillars and scores of statues and murals illustrating stories from the Shiva Purana, from Shiv Vivah to the Tandav.

The corridor runs around the revived Rudra Sagar lake, with the Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar entrance gates, the Saptarishi circle and a giant Shivling sculpture among its highlights. Visit at dusk, when the lighting brings the carvings to life.
