About Baba Baidyanath Temple
Baba Baidyanath Temple is the heart of Baidyanath Dham: one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, making it a rare site sacred under both traditions. Legend holds that Ravana's attempt to carry the lingam to Lanka failed here, and it was set down permanently — giving the town its name and its centuries of pilgrimage. The temple complex itself holds 21 shrines around the main sanctum.
