How to Get to Hyderabad
By air
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is at Shamshabad, south of central Hyderabad. It handles domestic and international flights. Airport buses, prepaid or app-based cabs and private transfers connect it with major parts of the city. Journey time depends heavily on the destination and traffic, so leave a generous buffer rather than relying only on distance.
By train
Major terminals include Secunderabad Junction, Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally), Kacheguda and Charlapalli. The correct arrival station depends on the train. Secunderabad is useful for many northern and central neighbourhoods, while Nampally and Kacheguda may be more convenient for central Hyderabad and parts of the Old City. Confirm the station code and latest platform information on the ticket.
By bus and road
Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) are important intercity terminals. Government and private operators also use route-specific boarding points around the metropolitan area. Hyderabad is linked by national and state highways to destinations across Telangana and neighbouring states. Recheck the exact boarding point and reporting time before departure.
Arrival planning
Do not assume all terminals are close together. Match your arrival point to your accommodation and keep extra time for cross-city transfers, weekday peaks, rain and major events.
