The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, India's largest high-altitude zoo, is renowned for its conservation-breeding of endangered Eastern Himalayan species such as the snow leopard and red panda. Set on terraced hillside amid Himalayan trees, it shares its grounds with the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. (Usually closed on Thursdays.)
