The Kasar Devi Temple, on a ridge a few km from Almora, dates back many centuries and is famed for its powerful spiritual atmosphere — Swami Vivekananda is said to have meditated here, and it later drew a countercultural community. The ridge offers wide views from Nanda Devi to the Panchachuli peaks over the Hawabagh valley.
