Elliot's Beach in Besant Nagar is a quieter alternative to Marina Beach, popular with a younger crowd for its cafes and relaxed atmosphere. The Karl Schmidt Memorial on the beach commemorates a German engineer who died attempting a rescue at sea here in 1930.
