Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore is a Dravidian-style temple dedicated to Shiva and Parvati, dating to around the 7th century (rebuilt in the 16th century after Portuguese-era destruction). Its towering 37-metre gopuram is covered in colourful carvings, and the annual Panguni Peruvizha festival draws large crowds each March-April.
