Built in 1892 by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III partly as an act of charity, Aga Khan Palace gained lasting historical significance during the Quit India Movement, when Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai were held here — Kasturba Gandhi and Desai both died within its walls. It's now a museum with an eternal flame honouring Gandhi.
