Distance: approximately Approximately 220 km
One of the easiest pilgrimage trips from Delhi - close enough for a weekend, well served by fast daytime trains, and the traditional starting point for the Char Dham Yatra.
Haridwar Junction (HW) is one of north India's busiest stations and the simplest way in. Multiple daily services from Delhi include the Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi and Mussoorie Express, taking roughly 4.5-6 hours. Daytime trains are generally the better choice here, especially for elderly travellers.
About 220 km via NH-334, taking 5-6 hours by car through Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee. AC Volvo and state buses run day and night from Kashmere Gate ISBT and Anand Vihar; many travellers take an overnight bus to arrive early morning.
Haridwar has no airport of its own. The nearest is Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun, about 35 km away. The Delhi-Dehradun flight takes roughly 45-50 minutes, then 1-1.5 hours by taxi to Haridwar.
