How to Reach Chail

Getting there

Chandigarh is the nearest major airport, with a multi-hour road transfer through hill terrain. Shimla Airport has limited services.

Kalka is the main broad-gauge railhead; Kandaghat on the narrow-gauge Kalka–Shimla line is a closer road connection when services suit the itinerary.

Buses connect Chail with Shimla, Solan and Kandaghat, but frequencies can be limited. Private taxis offer more flexibility for dispersed sights.

Always use the terminal and boarding point printed on the latest ticket; similarly named stations can be far apart.
