Discover Vagamon

Vagamon is a serene hill station in Kerala's Western Ghats, spread across rolling green meadows and pine forests. Nicknamed the "Scotland of Asia", it is known for paragliding, meadow walks and a peaceful, offbeat atmosphere across its three sacred hills.

Roughly September to May for cool, pleasant weather; the June–August monsoon is lush but wet.

By air: Cochin International Airport (~90–100 km) is the nearest. By train: Kottayam (~40 km) is the nearest convenient railhead. By road: buses and taxis from Kottayam, Erattupetta and nearby towns, along winding hill roads.

Vagamon is spread out and offbeat — a hired vehicle helps to reach the meadows, hills and viewpoints. Local autos and taxis cover shorter distances.

Kerala cuisine — appam, puttu, spicy curries — is available in town; options are simpler and fewer than in bigger hill stations.

Day 1: Vagamon meadows, the pine forest and Vagamon Lake. Day 2: The three hills — Kurisumala, Thangal Para and Murugan Mala — and paragliding (seasonal).

Warm layers for cool, misty weather; a rain jacket, especially around the monsoon; sturdy shoes for meadow and hill walks.

Vagamon is a leading paragliding venue (international events are held here) — flights are seasonal and weather-dependent. Roads in are winding, so plan travel time.
