About Umiam Lake (Barapani)
Umiam Lake (Barapani), a large man-made reservoir a short drive north of Shillong, is ringed by forested hills and is a favourite for boating, kayaking and water sports, with a lakeside park. Its sweeping views make it a classic stop on the way in or out of the city.
