By train
Coonoor is on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway; Mettupalayam is the broad-gauge connection. Heritage seats and operating sections should be checked early.

Buses connect Coonoor with Ooty, Mettupalayam, Coimbatore and Kotagiri. Peak-season road congestion can be significant.
