Ram Jhula

A second, sturdier suspension bridge linking Swarg Ashram to Muni Ki Reti, at the heart of Rishikesh's ashram district.

Ram Jhula is Laxman Jhula's younger, wider sibling — built decades later and able to take light vehicle traffic as well as foot passengers. It connects Swarg Ashram on the eastern bank to Muni Ki Reti on the western bank, right in the middle of the stretch of riverfront most associated with Rishikesh's identity as the "Yoga Capital of the World."

Crossing it puts you within easy walking distance of some of the town's best-known ashrams, including Parmarth Niketan and Geeta Bhawan, as well as Triveni Ghat further downstream. Like Laxman Jhula, it's less a single attraction than a gateway to a whole neighbourhood — expect the same mix of cafés, bookshops, yoga studios and the steady rhythm of pilgrims, sadhus and backpackers crossing at all hours.

Evenings here are particularly worth timing: the bridge offers a good vantage point to watch the Ganga Aarti taking place at the ghats below without needing to fight the crowd right at the water's edge.

How to reach Ram Jhula

Short auto-rickshaw ride from Rishikesh railway station or bus stand; also walkable from Triveni Ghat along the riverside road.
