Built in the mid-16th century for Emperor Humayun by his widow Empress Bega Begum, and designed by Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, Humayun's Tomb is considered the first great example of Mughal garden-tomb architecture — and a direct design influence on the Taj Mahal decades later.
